This map, entitled “Combinatoire ou la Hiérarchie des Réseaux” has been rendered trough hierarchical layout, using open-source tools such as graphviz and more specificaly the dot engine and language. Those were the most advanced tools when i began using them. Now, while those are still weapon of choice when one needs to render directed data flow and put the emphasis on “power trough direction”, some very efficient and practicle new engines can be used to layout graph in a more organic way. The Version 4 of my map will feature renders using both DOT and GEPHI engines processed files. GEPHI is a GUI software and simulation engine to model complex graph and manipulate connected data in a confortable and user friendly way.
