Pictures of loved

Picturing people you know and moreover, people you love is a difficult yet inevitable act. It is something that became a part of our ordinary life due to technological evolution but which tend to be a consumerist behaviour rather than an intention to capture the visual personality of one. This serie of picture, depicts in black and white photographs, my kids in what they are and not in what they look. I tried to prevent myself from taking pictures as their father but rather as an ethnographer or a documentalist … trying to capture both the mind and the look of the subject, those little individuals.

Anton, my oldest son. Always moving, always watching with his deep and penetrative sight. His eyes are shadowed by his eyebrows giving him a melancholic look. One can miss anything but his eye and he tells more with it than he would with his mouth.

Louise, my girl… She’s a living drollery. Often disguised. Always smiling and joking … Shaking her head and speaking about everything but sad things … She loves masquerades and she often play roles and pretend being someone else … If a little girl grabs you in the street asking you nonsenses then laugh at you wile you face decomposes due to the absurdity of the statement she made… You may just have met Louise …

Leon, the last one. He has eczema since he was borne and his face has been a bleeding wound for the last two years. Leon doesn’t give a fuck about it. He smiles and laugh at everything. He doesn’t get scared easily and is kind of a pushy person. Leon wants and gets … He’s a seeker and a finder.
